Germany

Germany's reputation is mainly based on wines made from the Riesling grape – making aromatic, fruity and elegant white wines that range from crisp and dry to well-balanced and sweet. Often lower in alcohol than many other countries' offerings, these are wines suitable for chilled refreshment. However, climate change means their Pinot Noir or Spatburgunder wines are now a natural alternative to red wines from Burgundy.
