Grapes: 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc & 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14ha vineyard on clay & gravel soils, 50 year average vine age, matured 14 months in new oak barrels

The chateau, owned by Alexandre Thienpont, is a close neighbour to both La Conseillante & Petrus, and is considered one of Pomerol's finest properties.

"One of the richest, spiciest noses yet in Pomerol. Very sweet and sumptuous but with lots of freshness. Silky and generous and pure!!! Great red fruit freshness. Tension and density. Close-grained and glossy. A real treat. The wine of the vintage?"

"Showing a beautiful ruby hue, the melange of truffle, red berries, plum and dark cherries pops up with little effort. The fruit displays a spicy quality, with a beautiful purity in its essence. But the palate is perhaps the best part of the experience with its silky, lush, voluptuous textures. 2006 is one of the few vintages when the blend mirrors the vineyard planting."
