Description

Two Rivers Juliet Marlborough Riesling, Marlborough, New Zealand, 2023

Grape: 100% Riesling, handpicked fruit from the Brookby Hill & Jomara vineyards in the Southern Valleys, loess over clay soil, in organic conversion since 2020, medium dry style (17g/l RS), unoaked.

Producer Tasting Note:

Aromas of Kaffir lime, lemon and Jasmine blossom are mixed with hazelnuts and a touch of spice. The palate is bright and pure with a beautiful grainy texture, honeysuckle, and ripe citrus flavours. This waxy textured riesling has great concentration and a lovely balance of sweetness and mouth-watering acidity.

Partially whole bunch pressed and then fermented cool in stainless steel. The fermentation was stopped when the sweetness and acidity were in perfect balance. The wine then rested on fine lees for three months to gain texture and palate weight.

Critics' Tasting Notes:

"Bright, even, pale yellow. The nose is softly full, with aromas of apple, lime and a suggestion of white peach melded with apple blossom. Medium-bodied, off-dry to taste, aromas of apple, lime and zest, white peach entwined with apple blossom and jasmine. Mouth-watering acidity flows with good energy and balances sweetness, driving a long, floral nuanced, refreshing finish. Match with blue cod and pork koftas over the next 5+ years. Fruit from Southern Valleys, fermented in stainless 11% alc, 17g/l RS, rested on fine lees for 3 months."

19/20 points, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews, October 2023

"Brilliantly fine with exceptional clarity and detail, the wine shows lemon sorbet, crunchy apple and jasmine aromas on the nose, leading to an elegantly expressed palate that’s pristine and flowing with refined texture and elegant sweetness. It’s superbly balanced by racy acidity, making the wine wonderfully harmonious and delicious. Style: Medium-dry. At its best: 2025 to 2035."

96/100 points (5 Stars), Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

An elegant aperitif and excellent with spicy Asian or Indian cuisine.
