Two Rivers, Clos des Pierres Chardonnay, Marlborough, New Zealand, 2022

Grape: 100% Chardonnay, 27 year old vines, oaked, bottled unfined and unfiltered

Bright lemon in colour, the bouquet offers aromas of toasted almonds, ripe citrus, and a touch of sea spray. On the palate the wine is bright and focused, opening up to layers of stone fruit and lemon curd, over toasted oak and vanilla bean. The artisan winemaking approach has resulted in a classic and elegantly textured chardonnay, with beautiful balance, and a long, pure finish. One of Two Rivers best Chardonnay vintages.

"Clos des Pierres" is French for "place of stones" and gives reference to The Spring Vineyard which has extremely stony soils.

Predominately from 27 year old Mendoza clone Chardonnay vines, the fruit for this wine was hand harvested, lightly whole bunch pressed and naturally fermented. Intermittent lees stirring was carried out and full malolactic fermentation occurred. The wine was then aged for 8 months in a mixture of new and seasoned French oak barrels and cuves. 

An ideal pairing with white sauce dishes and hard or smoked cheeses.
