Description
Taylor's 1980 Vintage Port.
Producer Tasting Note:
Ruby, cherry red tones gently fading at edges. Attractive fresh fruit and spice bouquet. Intense; surprisingly youthful. An elegant, nicely weighted and balanced wine. Firm full fruit flavours with a freshness that carries on through to the finish.
Critics' Tasting Notes:
"This house must certainly be the Latour of Portugal. Their ports are remarkably backward yet still impressive when young. Of all the vintage ports, those of Taylor need the longest time to mature and even when fully mature seem to have an inner strength and firmness that keep them going for decades. Their tawnys are also among the very best, though somewhat expensive. The 1980 is probably the best port of the vintage."
89/100 points, Robert M. Parker Jr., WINE ADVOCATE, January 1989
"Shaded deep garnet. Intense and vibrant with backbone and so much more concentration and sweetness. Firm and confident still. Still some tannin and nice balance. Great for drinking now." Drink 2000-2040
