Description
Puligny Montrachet Les Charmes Domaine Alain Chavy, Cote de Beaune, Burgundy, France, 2022
Grape: 100% Chardonnay, 70 year old vines, hand picked, barrel fermented, low sulphur (40ppm free SO2 at bottling)
The domaine, formed in 2003, has around 10ha of vineyards spread across various premier cru sites and a tiny part of the Grand Cru Chevalier-Montrachet. Vineyards are also located in St Aubin & Meursault.
This wine, Les Charmes, is a single vineyard (lieu-dit), village level Puligny bottling. The vineyard is adjacent to the Premier Cru of the same name in Meursault and, compared to the standard village wine, produces sweeter, juicier Chardonnay fruit with a noticeable saline minerality and a long smooth finish. Flavours of citrus and fresh pears with spicy, toasty oak notes.
Drink 2024-2031 with fish, mushroom dishes, poultry, or hard cheeses such as Comté.
