Grapes: A blend of 45% Chardonnay, 44% Pinot Noir and 11% Pinot Meunier.
The pinnacle of winemaking at Nyetimber, the 2010 vintage has a rich and generous fruit character alongside a savoury and caramelised flavour (from almost a decade of ageing). Its texture is decadent and complex highlighting the wine's exquisite character.
"This is the ambitious cuvée made from the best of the best of what are now 90 parcels in 10 vineyards totalling 280 ha, although this particular blend was all West Sussex and a very similar make-up to the 2009 launch vintage. Seven years on lees and nine months post disgorgement. The back label has a lot code which is explained on their website. 12,000 bottles made.
Tasted blind. Light nose and very well-mannered palate. Everything in its place. Not too tart and with real interest. Complete. I actually thought this could be champagne."
