Let's take a road trip to discover exciting new flavours, some familiar, some a bit off the beaten track, but all with that Italian "something" that just can't be replicated anywhere else.

Lo Triolet Petite Arvine, Vallee d'Aoste, 2021 (White)

Grown on the mountainous border of France/Switzerland, north of Turin, the Petitie Arvine gives wine with a floral aroma, delicate fruit and intense, savoury herbal notes. Mineral flecked, pure, bright, and full of fresh Alpine energy. 

Ascesa Nebbiolo, Rosso di Valtellina, Lombardia, 2020

A mountain red from spectacular vineyards east of Lake Como, this Nebbiolo wine is lighter than Barolo, but offers similar floral notes of roses and violets, alongside red fruit flavours of cherries and plums, sweet spices and aromatic herbs.

Pieralisi Caccialepre Organic Rosso Piceno, Marche, 2021

The central Italian region of Marche is home to both Montepulciano & Sangiovese, and this Rosso Piceno blends both into a traditional savoury, velvety textured wine with flavours of bramble fruit and plum. Perfect "trattoria" pasta fayre!

La Belle Malvasia Lunaria Orsogna, Abruzzo, 2023 (White)

The wild Abruzzo region is home to Orsogna's, biodynamically grown Malvasia vines, which offers us a soft, ripe wine with notes of stone fruits (nectarine, peach), and citrus (orange zest & candied lemon peel). Pair it with a buttery risotto.

Tenuta Serranova Susumaniello, Salento, Puglia, 2022

The rare Susumaniello grape gives wild herbs and spicy dark fruits. A robust and richly flavoured wine with baked plum, black cherry and bramble fruit on the palate, finishing with brown spice and toffee. Try it with "Bombette" meatballs.

Varvaglione Papale Oro, Primitivo di Manduria, Puglia, 2020

Primitivo is the king of red grapes in the far south of Italy and the Manduria region grows the finest examples. Deep, dark, and irresistibly seductive! Flavours of dark chocolate and sweet strawberries. Match with a rich, wild boar ragu.
