Swirl, baby swirl!

Swirl, baby swirl!

Many of us enjoy wine at home, often alongside food, but, for the full experience, you might want to dine out at a pub or restaurant. For home consumption, the choice of bottle is purely down to our own decision at the time. It might be a "special" bottle for a celebration, or a mid-week "quaffer", but we can chose anything we like. On the other hand, at a restaurant, you'll have to rely on the venue's buying. You can still select from their full offering, but they decided to stock the wines, so the quality is unknown to the potential consumer. Ask for recommendations, don't just opt for the easy option "house" wine. If quality is their watchword, they've probably bought from our fantastic selection at Frazier's. We've been serving the Midlands on-trade for decades and we recognise a good bottle when we taste one.

If you're in "the trade" and are inspired to create a great wine list for your venue, why not come and see us at our "Trade Portifolio" tasting in March, here at Frazier's Wine Studio in Solihull?

You'll receive a warm welcome (and even lunch!), with the opportunity to quizz our team about anything wine-related. A huge selection of bottles will be open for tasting on the day, with many suppliers' representatives being on hand to help..

2025 is going to be different. With new wine duty rates affecting prices, it's even more important to offer both quality and value for money to your customers. Most of our range will not be found in the supermarkets, so you can be confident in featuring our trade wines on your list. If you need specific items, please let us know.

So, where to start?

First of all, contact us to book your place at the tasting. Call us on 0330 055 0022 or email tastings@fraziers.co.uk

As an existing customer you'll probably be looking to taste the latest vintages of already listed wines, or maybe looking to upgrade your selection to suit a change in customer preferences.

If you're a potential new Frazier's customer, we'd love to meet you to discuss your business needs. Ask to see one of our vastly experienced, on-trade account specialists who can answer all your questions. We're all here to make your venue succeed by offering the right wines for your clientele.

Offering a broad choice of wine styles/grapes at different pricing levels, or just keeping a limited selection of the best-selling bottles, Frazier's can support you by recommending suitable wines, whether your customers are looking for a glass of red to drink with their Friday night curry, or fine dining with the greatest bottles from Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne.

We also offer spirits and an outstanding range of fortified wines, particularly vintage port (stored in our air-conditioned "fine wine" room).

Delivery, in the West Midlands, is by our own dedicated vans and placing an order couldn't be more simple via our trade app, or by phone/email to the customer service office, leaving you more time to concentrate on your business.

So, having cleared your diary for the most essential tasting event of 2025, and you're all safely booked in, you can practice your tasting technique. Are you the person who can hit a spittoon from 10 paces, or the one who always dribbles all over their shirt? We might be keeping a record!

Just to refresh your memory, you need to start by first assessing the colour of the wine, then, the all important "swirl" (baby, swirl), followed by the "sniff" (where you are really detecting the full flavour character), the "sip" (don't drink it!), finishing with the final "spit" (to varying degrees of accuracy depending on the number of samples you've tried).

We look forward to seeing you all on the day!
