Nerello Mascalese

Nerello Mascalese, a Sicilian red grape, produces light to medium bodied wines. similar in style to Pinot Noir and Nebbiolo, Often found on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna, the wines made here have a pronounced mineral character and noticeable acidity. The variety is also found in small quantities on the nearby Italian mainland in Calabria. Flavours include: Dried Cherry, Orange Zest, Dried Thyme, Allspice. Drink Nerello Mascalese wines with pork dishes and those using tomatoes and herbs.
