Originating in France, Madeleine Angevine is an early-ripening white grape variety found mostly in England with small plantings in Germany, Scandinavia and Washington State (USA). A crossing made of Circé and Madeleine Royale in the 19th century, the variety is "parent" to Siegerrebe and Reichensteiner, also found in many English vineyards. Wines produced from Madeleine Angevine tend to be dry and fruity with an initial pear-drop aroma, with flavours of walnut, pear and earthy notes. Pair with seafood, mushrooms and poultry dishes.
