Grape: 100% Chardonnay (a blend from 6 different vineyard sites), hand harvested, whole-bunch pressed, indigenous yeast fermentation in oak barrels, 100% malolactic, 11 months' maturation in barrel

Michael Brajkovich, acclaimed as one of the world's greatest Chardonnay producers for his single vineyard wines, also makes the "Estate" Chardonnay at less than half the price of his greatest bottles. This wine has white peach and citrus zest flavours with a balanced, supple and creamy texture. It's very approachable already and, with no new oak this year, the fruit is allowed to shine. Energetic, citrussy acidity on the palate holds it all together.

Producer Tasting Note:

Careful selection in 2023 was crucial in maintaining the quality and high standard of the Estate Chardonnay that we have set ourselves for over 35 years. Due to the lighter vintage the alcohol is a moderate 12.5% and no new oak was used in the vinification of this wine. There was a high proportion of 1 & 2 year old barrels and this has provided a beautiful balance to the Chardonnay which is a little more citrus in 2023 rather than peachy. The wine begins with a fragrant lemon aroma with hint of white peach. The palate is silky and balanced with a lovely citrus finish. "Compared to the Village chardonnay, there's a touch of extra concentration here. Barely ripe white nectarine, a little guava and red apple alongside the merest hint of flint. There is a strong spine of acid, but this provides structure for the fruit. A faint note of creamy malo adds another layer." Drink now - 2028
