Joseph Perrier Cuvée Royale Brut Vintage Champagne, France, 2013

Made up of 54% Chardonnay and 46% Pinot Noir from vineyards in Ambonnay, Mailly, Chouilly, Bergères-lès-Vertus and Cumières. A dry wine with a dosage of 3g/L. This cuvée ages for a minimum of five years prior to release. Supple and graceful, giving a floral bouquet with a full, rich style. 

To the eye, elegant and golden colour. The initial aroma is the delicate Chardonnay combined with discrete and elegant flower fragrances, followed by hints of mandarin, orange and dried fruit.

A good complexity, straight forward to begin with, followed by rich fruity aromas, lightly grilled notes and a long, pleasant citrus fruit finish.

The House of Champagne Joseph Perrier was established in 1825, and has been under the ownership of the same family (Pithois) since 1888. Now in the very capable hands of Jean-Claude Fourmon, a direct descendent of Paul Pithois, Joseph Perrier own roughly 21 hectares of vineyards on the Northern Slopes of the Valle de la Marne, which satisfies 30% of their production and ensures consistency and quality.

A perfect champagne to serve with dishes such as plancha-fried pigeon filet with seasonal vegetable emulsion and roasted hazelnuts. Also pairs perfectly with smoked foie gras and stewed figs.
