Description
JJ Hahn "Reginald" Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon, Barossa Valley, South Australia, 2018
Grapes: A traditional blend of 60% Shiraz & 40% Cabernet Sauvignon with 16 months' ageing in old French & American oak barrels.
Established as a collaboration between the Hahn family and Rolf Binder in 1997, the original property, settled in 1845, had its first vines planted in 1914.
A medium bodied, full-flavoured classic is the promise behind the very deep red colour. Notes of berry fruits with a hint of cedar, and spice fill the glass.
The palate reflects the nose with flavours of cedar, stewed fruit and cassis. Ripe red berry fruits and spice are balanced by well rounded tannins. The wine has a pleasant lingering finish with restrained oak. Great depth of flavour indicative of this exceptional vintage.
Winemaker: Rolf Binder
Awarded 93/100 points, The Real Review and 91/100 points, Halliday Wine Companion
