Description
Halfpenny Green Tom Hill, England, 2019
Grape Variety – Huxelrebe
Established in 1983 by the Vickers family in South Staffordshire, Halfpenny Green now has 30 acres of vineyards which are looked after by founder, Martin Vickers. His son, Clive, is the winemaker of these award-winning wines. Sixteen different varieties are planted, most of which are hybrids suitable to the changeable English weather, but classic French grapes are planted for the production of sparkling wines.
Fresh apple blossom and minerality waft on the nose before delicate honeysuckle, balanced with fresh lemon, peel across the taste buds bringing a zestfully dry wine. The varietal characters are brought to the fore in this artfully crafted vintage.
Sits well as an aperitif, but works wonderfully alongside savoury dishes such as barbecued pork, roast chicken, pan-fried fish or grilled vegetable dishes.
