Grape: 100% Syrah with 12 months in oak
Glenelly Estate, situated just to the north of Stellenbosch town, is owned by May de Lencquesaing, the previous owner of Pauillac Grand Cru Classe chateau, Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, France.
Famous for their Cabernet based wines, including "Lady May", a small proportion of Syrah is also planted on the estate's vineyards on the slopes of the Simonsberg. Natural yeast fermentation with malolactic in French oak gives a wine that's suitable for 4-8 years' ageing.
The Glass Collection Syrah draws its inspiration from the northern Rhône. Juicy and fresh, with tasty plum and raspberry coulis notes racing through, lined with subtle black tea and graphite notes. Shows a pretty flash of spice through the finish with hints of jasmine.
