Description
Gavi Di Gavi, La Minaia, Nicola Bergaglio, Piedmont, Italy, 2023
Grape: 100% Cortese, unoaked.
A crisp, refreshing, dry white wine. Pale gold in colour with flashes of diamond brilliance, it has a light, fresh, mineral and citrus bouquet. The palate is crisp and dry, with a hint of ripe pears and a complex array of red and green apples, the finish is mouth-wateringly refreshing and lengthy.
From a 5-ha single vineyard, called Minaia, of which part was planted in 1950 and part in 1980. This parcel was originally part of a larger vineyard owned by La Solca, which sold a plot to Bergaglio. A relative inherited the remainder of the holding, which became Il Poggio di Gavi. The first vintage of Minaia was in 1987.
A favourite of many customers, a classic Gavi, ideal as an aperitif, or matching with a watercress salad or poached fish.
