Grape: 100% Sipon (Furmint), hand picked, natural fermentation, aged and fermented on its lees in large oak barrels for 12 months.
This dry white wine from Doppler has a light, golden yellow colour with touches of green. The aroma has the typical Furmint rosehip character alongside thyme and mineral notes with flavours of herbs, vanilla, and dried tobacco leaves.
Vineyards, situated just north of the town of Maribor, in the Scajerska Slovenija (Styria) region of Podravje, were originally established by Austrian, Benedictine monks in 1815 and the property was later puchased by Ivan Doppler in 1938. With the third generation now running the vineyards and winery, Doppler produces hand-made wines with an emphasis on traditional, regional varieties.
The rich, oaked-aged character makes this Sipon a great alternative to Chardonnay with your roast chicken, or try some paired with pasta & vegetables.
