Grapes: A blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Cão and Tinta Amarela

Producer Tasting Note:

Deep ruby black, narrow purple red rim. Fine, complex black fruit nose, jammy, strawberry and cherry. Nicely balanced palate with volume but firm tannins. Attractive fruit flavour, a little closed up still, but a very fine wine.

Critics' Tasting Notes:

"A single quinta vintage Port from the Quinta da Roêda, just upstream from the village of Pinhão. Deep crimson, spices and cocoa flit around very dark berry fruits. There's a touch of curry leaf, and balsamic notes that are dark and subtle. The palate is exceptionally smooth and silky, the plum and blackcurrant gloss of fruit melts into a bittersweet chocolate and raisin fudge depth, a nice zestiness to the acidity extending the finish."

Single Quinta wines need decanting as they are usually a decade old, and will throw a sediment as they age. Walnuts are an excellent accompaniment to Vintage Port, along with rich flavoured cheeses such as Stilton and dried fruits. Equally enjoyable drunk on its own. Quinta da Roêda has historically been regarded as one of the greatest estates in the Douro valley. In years when Croft do not declare a vintage Port, they may choose to select the best wines from Roêda and bottle a Quinta da Roêda Port, this expresses the purity of the unique Roêda terroir.
