Producer Tasting Note:

Characteristic complexity of spices and clove aromas seduce the senses, with fat, ripe raisins, fresh fruity raspberry, gumcistus and violet undertones. A rich opulent wine with great tannic structure. Dark plums, blackberry jam, raspberry and spice flavours on the mouth; finishing with dark bitter chocolate that stays in the palate forever.

"Garnet color, lets light through. Complex with very lively, ripe fruit and jams, menthol and subtle florals, combining notes of eucalyptus, pine and rockrose. Not being the most full-bodied, it has a well-founded structure, tannin so silky that it almost conveys sweetness, notes of black tea and a long finish."

Single Quinta wines need decanting as they are usually a decade old, and will throw a sediment as they age. Walnuts are an excellent accompaniment to Vintage Port, along with rich flavoured cheeses such as Stilton and dried fruits. Equally enjoyable drunk on its own. Quinta da Roêda has historically been regarded as one of the greatest estates in the Douro valley. In years when Croft do not declare a vintage Port, they may choose to select the best wines from Roêda and bottle a Quinta da Roêda Port, this expresses the purity of the unique Roêda terroir.
