Châteauneuf du Pape "Cuvee Tradition", Domaine Font Du Vent, Famille Gonnet, Southern Rhône, France, 2021 

Grapes: Produced from organic fruit, using 70% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, plus 10% blend of Counoise, Cinsault, Terret Noir, Vaccarèse, Clairette and Bourboulenc, 50-90 year old vines, 30ha vineyard, pebbles over sand/clay/limestone soil, hand picked, matured in a combination of large oak barrels/vats & concrete/steel vats, bottled unfiltered 

A bouquet of cherries and blackberries with hints of garrigue, liquorice and spice. Dark and savoury fruit flavours dominate the palate. There is warmth, black pepper and some subtle sweet spice too. Rich, blackcurrant overtones and a firm, but warming finish.

Famille Gonnet's "Font du Vent" is the new name for Font Michelle.

The Gonnet family has been settled at Bédarrides since 1600 and, in 1950, the original "Font Michelle" domaine was established by Etienne Gonnet. Today, Bertrand and Guillaum run the estate and are now making their own mark on the estate's wines.
