Grapes: 100% Merlot, 21 acres planted on gravel/clay soil, 30 year old vines, handpicked, 16-18 months ageing in French oak barrels (30-40% new wood).

Situated on the northern edge of the plateau of Pomerol, nestled between Château Gazin and Château La Fleur-Pétrus, this wine has been produced by Jean-Pierre Moueix since 1976 for the Delfour-Borderie family, owners since 1930.

Producer Tasting Note:

A wine of opulent richness and creamy texture. In colour the wine is medium-rich ruby, with fresh, ripe blackberry aromas, very pungent. The palate is densely structured, with consistent fruitiness from start to finish, and rich, well-rounded tannins, finishing impressively complex and long

The vineyard management and vinification are carried out traditionally and with great care, producing a plump, supple, fleshy wine with ripe fruit and silky tannins.

Eminently approachable, even in its youth, Lafleur-Gazin is a delightful expression of the lighter style of Pomerol wines.

"Dark ruby, with purple reflections, and a subtle bright rim. Lovely red forest berry fruit, nuances of cherry, with a delicate tobacco hint, and some herbal savoury aromas. Medium-bodied, red berry flavours, somewhat vegetal, appearing lean, it is freshly structured, with fine tannins, and has a subtle caramel note on the finish."
