Château Charmail, Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, Haut Medoc, Bordeaux, France, 2018

Grapes: A blend of 39% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc and 11% Petit Verdot.

28ha vineyard on clay/gravel soil. Vine age over 30 years. Sustainable/organic farming. Hand-picked. Aged for around 12 months in 30% new oak barrels, 17-hectolitre concrete eggs and 500-litre barrels. Bottled unfined & unfiltered.

Producer Tasting Note:

Deep ruby with purple tones. Intense and expressive nose with ripe, black fruit—blackberries and plums—complemented by sweet spices, cedar, and a hint of leather. Full-bodied and concentrated, the palate offers layers of ripe fruit, supported by velvety tannins. Flavours of black cherry, licorice, and cocoa are present, with a long, spicy finish. The wine has impressive ageing potential.

Located in Saint-Seurin de Cadourne, the original vineyards date back to the 17th century. Consultant winemaker is Hubert de Bouard of Chateau Angelus, Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé
