Beaune 1er Cru Les Boucherottes, Domaine Anne-Francoise Gros, Cote de Beaune, Burgundy, France 2015 

Grape: 100% Pinot Noir, clay/limestone soil, hand harvested, aged 12-15 months in French oak barrels, bottled unfined & unfiltered

This Beaune 1er Cru Les Boucherottes reveals a deep red colour. On the nose, complex aromas of ripe red fruits, undergrowth and spicy touches. On the palate, this wine is harmonious, with melted tannins and an elegant structure. Its velvety texture and beautiful length in the mouth reveal notes of black fruits and light nuances of leather, testifying to its ageing potential. A persistent finish that will delight lovers of Burgundy.

Critic's Tasting Note:

"Cask sample. 50% new oak. Mid cherry. Quite dark-fruited for a Beaune but lively and lightly spiced by the oak – oak very well in the background. Very firm texture and only just enough fruit to fill out the frame." Drink 2020-2028

Anne-Françoise is Jean GROS of Vosne-Romanée‘s daughter. The Domaine AF GROS has been created in 1988 when Jean and Jeanine GROS started to transmit the family Domaine (first knew as Domaine GROS-RENAUDOT and then as Domaine Louis GROS). At the same time, Anne-Françoise acquired a Domain in Flagey Echezeaux with her husband Jean GROS and in 1995 they purchased a vineyard in Savigny les Beaune. In 1996 Jean and Jeanine GROS retired and so they divided the Jean GROS Domain between their three children Michel, Bernard and Anne-Françoise. Each Domaine is autonomous and independent (Domaine Michel GROS in Vosne Romanée, Domaine GROS Frère & Soeur directed by Bernard in Vosne Romanée, and Domaine Anne-Françoise GROS in Pommard). So there are four famous Domaines GROS.
