Description
Bagordi Gran Reserva, Rioja, Spain, 2007
Grapes: 60% Tempranillo, 40% Graciano, hand picked, with a minimum of 24 months of barrel ageing and more than 5 years of bottle ageing.
Very attractive, medium-light colour. Clean and complex nose with spicy notes in balance with nuts, leather and raisined fruits. Silky, balanced and rounded in the mouth with sweet tannins. Red fruits flavour with balsamic, roasted coffee and dark chocolate notes ending with a lengthy aftertaste.
Founded in 1995, Bodegas Bagordi, situated in Andosilla in the Rioja Oriental (Baja), uses 100% own vineyard fruit for its wines. The most recent vintages (after 2012) are now certified organic.
A great match for traditional dishes of northern Spain, ideally containing a wine based sauce such as Oxtail casserole, beef cheek in red wine sauce, casseroles with sweet vegetables as garnish (leeks, carrots, aubergines or peas) poultry with mixed vegetables.
